Set within the natural surrounds of Samford Parklands in Queensland, two custom-designed Mulgrave Shelters by Landmark Products bring together traditional architectural forms, natural materials and considered detailing to create inviting spaces within the landscape. Working with Hazell Bros Group, Landmark supplied and installed two modified Mulgrave Shelters, each incorporating bespoke hardwood pergola extensions that complement the surrounding environment while providing generous sheltered areas for community use.
Measuring 6.0 × 5.6 metres and 9.3 × 5.6 metres respectively, the shelters retain the familiar gable roof profile of the Mulgrave range, reinterpreted through extensive use of hardwood timber. Custom hardwood roof framing, dual-leaf timber posts and integrated pergola structures establish a cohesive architectural language across both installations.
The pergolas extend beyond the main roof structures, introducing a lighter, more open architectural element that contrasts with the solid roof forms. Stainless steel wire rope systems are integrated into the pergola detailing, providing a framework for potential climbing vegetation and further integration with the landscape. Surfmist Colorbond roofing provides a subtle contrast to the warmth of the stained hardwood, while concealed structural considerations and durable stainless steel fixings ensure the shelters are suited to the demands of a public environment.
The result is a pair of thoughtfully customised structures that balance architectural character with practical functionality, demonstrating Landmark’s ability to adapt its standard shelter range to meet the unique design requirements of a project.
